Die Provinz grenzt an Irak und dem Persischen Golf. Die Historie der Stadt geht zur\u00fcck bis in die Zeit der ach\u00e4menidischen \u00c4ra. Der Fluss \u201eKarun\u201c, der l\u00e4ngste und wohl einzig schiffbare Fluss des Landes, flie\u00dft durch die Innenstadt. Die Provinz Khuzestan ist von Persern, Luren und Arabern bewohnt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Die wei\u00dfe Br\u00fccke<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00dcber dem Fluss Karun hagibt est mehrere Br\u00fccken. Die wohl wichtigste Br\u00fccke ist die \u201eWei\u00dfe Br\u00fccke\u201c, die das Stadtwahrzeichen ist. Die Br\u00fccke wurde 1937 durch deutsche Ingenieure gebaut und geh\u00f6rt zu den Attraktionen der Stadt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Die Zikkurat von Tschogha Zanbil (UNESCO Weltkulturerbe)<\/strong><br \/>\nDie 3500 Jahre alte Zikkurat von Tschogha Zanbil liegt 30 km s\u00fcd\u00f6stlich von Susa. Der Tempelturm wurde in der Zeit der elamitischen Herrschaft erbaut und geh\u00f6rte zur antiken Residenzstadt Dur-Untasch. Heute sind noch \u00dcberreste und Ruinen der Stadt und des Tempels zu sehen, die zum UNESCO Weltkulturerbe geh\u00f6ren.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Susa\/Schusch (UNESCO Weltkulturerbe)<\/strong><br \/>\nDie Stadt Susa liegt 12 km nordwestlich von Ahwaz. Susa war einst das Zentrum der antiken Zivilisation. Sie galt als Hauptstadt des Elamischen-Reiches. Nach Untergang des Elamischen Reiches diente es w\u00e4hrend der Herrschaft der Ach\u00e4meniden als Winterhauptstadt. Die heutigen \u00dcberreste des Darius Palastes in dem atiken Stadtteil Apadana, sowie das Grab des Propheten Daniels, deuten auf die prachtvolle historische Vergangenheit hin.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Suschtar<\/strong><br \/>\nNicht zu verwechseln mit Susa ist die Stadt Schuschtar. Diese liegt 90 km n\u00f6rdlich von Ahwaz. Zu der wichtigsten Attraktion von Schuschtar geh\u00f6rt das antike Bew\u00e4sserungssystem mit seinen Wasserm\u00fchlen. Das Komplex ist von der UNESCO als Weltkultur erkannt worden. Die franz\u00f6sische Arch\u00e4ologin Jane Dieufaloy hat in ihrem Buch \u201eReisen nach Persien und Spanien\u201c [1851-1916] den Ort erw\u00e4hnt und als eines der gr\u00f6\u00dften Bakomplexe vor der industriellen Zeit bezeichnet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Die Schadegan Lagune (UNESCO Welterbest\u00e4tte)<\/strong><br \/>\nDie Schadegan Lagune ist eines der gr\u00f6\u00dften Feuchtgebiete des Landes und liegt im S\u00fcden der Stadt Schadegan.
