Die Provinz grenzt an Afghanistan und Turkmenistan. Der Name Khorasan bedeutet \u201eSonnenaufgang\u201c und bezieht sich auf den Schrein des achten schiitischen Imam Reza. Maschhad ist die wichtigste Pilgerstadt Irans und es befinden sich zur jeder Jahreszeit mehrere Tausende schiitische Pilger in Maschhad auf. Der achte schiitische Imam \u201eReza\u201c ist in Maschhad begraben.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Schrein von Imam Reza<\/strong><br \/>\nDer Schreinkomplex beinhaltet neben der Moschee ein Museum und eine Bibliothek. Der Bau des Schreins erfolgte durch mehrere Dynastien. Der Zugang zum Schreinkomplex ist in der Regel Nicht-Moslemen untersagt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Die Goharschad Moschee<\/strong><br \/>\nDie Moschee wurde 1405-1418 erbaut. Die Moschee ist von einem Hof mit vier Iwanen umgeben, der sich im S\u00fcden an den Schrein vom Imam Reza schlie\u00dft. Die Fliesendekorationen der Goharschad Moschee gehlren zu den kunstvollsten der iranischen Moscheen. Die Moschee ist nach ihrer Stifterin \u201eGoharschad\u201c \u2013die Lieblingsfrau von \u201eSchahrukh Khan\u201c, dem Sohn \u201eTimurs\u201c- benannt. Sie hatten gro\u00dfen Einfluss in den politischen Angelegenheiten ihres Herrschenden Gattens.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Waldpark Wakil-Abad<\/strong><br \/>\nDer Waldpark von Wakil-Abad liegt 8km nord-westlich von Maschhad. Der Park hat eine Fl\u00e4che von 70 he. Mehrere saisonale Fl\u00fcsse bew\u00e4ssern den Park. Es beinhaltet auch einen Zoo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Historisches Gebirgsdorf Kang in Torghabeh<\/strong><br \/>\nDas historische Dorf Kang liegt 19km westlich von der Kleisntadt Torghabeh und 29km von Maschhad entfernt. \u00c4hnlich wie das Dorf Masuleh nahe am Kaspischen Meer, ist dieses Gebirgsdorf terassenf\u00f6rmig. Es stammt aus der vorislamischen Zeit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Freizeitort Schandiz<\/strong><br \/>\nDer Freizeitort Schandiz liegt 37 km nordwestlich von Mashhad und hat ein gem\u00e4\u00dfigtes Klima, mit vielen G\u00e4rten und einer wundersch\u00f6nen Landschaft. Im jahr 2006 ist es zur besten Touristenattraktion des Landes ernannt worden.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Grabmal von Nader-Schah<\/strong><br \/>\nDer K\u00f6nig Nader \u201eNader-Schah\u201c war Gr\u00fcnder der \u201eAfschariden\u201c Dynastie (1736-1796). Sein Grabbau liegt heute in einem Park, wo auch ein Reiterdenkmal von ihm zu sehen ist. Das Grabmausoleum mit seinem Garten wurde 1964 im Zentrum von Maschhad errichtet und ist auch unter dem Namen \u201eBagheh Naderi\u201c bekannt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Khadje Rabi<\/strong><br \/>\n5km n\u00f6rdlich von Maschhad liegt das sehenswerte Grabmal von \u201eKhadje Rabi\u201c das 1621 errichtet wurde. Der hier beigesetzte soll der Legende nach Imam Reza beigestanden haben. Der Grabbau ist achteckig und liegt in Form eines Pavillions in der Mitte eines Parkes. Einige Baumeister dieses Anlage wurden sp\u00e4ter an den Hof des indischen Moghul-Herrscher berufen und bauten das ber\u00fchmte Taj Mahal, als dessen Vorl\u00e4uferbau Khadje Rabi gilt. W\u00e4hrend des Krieges Iran gege Irak, wurde ein Gro\u00dfteil der Parkanlage zur Kriegsgr\u00e4berst\u00e4tte umgebaut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Grabmal des Nationaldichters Ferdowsi<\/strong><br \/>\nIn Tus liegt das Grab des Nationaldichters Ferdowsi. Ferdowsi ist ber\u00fchmt f\u00fcr seinen Epos \u201eSchahnameh\u201c, wobei er versucht hat arabische W\u00f6rter zu meiden und die persische Sprache wahren. Das Grabbau liegt in einer Parkanlage. Ferdowesi starb im Jahr 1020 n.Chr..
