Since the beginning of 2023, Air Serbia has carried 2.76 million passengers, thus already surpassing the total number of passengers carried throughout 2022 by the end of August. It is expected that the result of 2.81 million passengers achieved in the most successful year so far, 2019, will be exceeded in the first week of September.
“The current summer season will be remembered for numerous challenges. Bad weather conditions, frequent refueling bans, insufficient staff at airports, a global shortage of spare parts, and other unfavorable circumstances have affected operations throughout the summer. Despite it all, during July and August, we carried over a million passengers to more than 80 destinations worldwide, thus breaking our records set even before the COVID-19 pandemic. The most intensive month was July, during which we carried 27% more passengers compared to July 2022, and 39% more compared to the same month in 2019. Good results were also recorded in August, which was our 14th consecutive record-breaking month. “At the moment we are already intensively preparing for the coming winter season, which is expected to be very dynamic,” said Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.
The most popular destinations during July and August 2023 in the region were Tivat and Podgorica. In Western Europe, passengers most frequently visited Zurich, Paris and Amsterdam, while in the wider Euro-Mediterranean zone, Istanbul, Larnaca, Athens and Barcelona were popular destinations. Among long-distance travel destinations, New York is one of the top ten destinations in terms of the number of passengers in the two summer months mentioned.
