Historical Forts in Semnan

The Director-General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts announced there are more than 50 Historical Forts in Semnan.

“In this regard, a proposal has been made to set up a base of historical castles in the province.”

He added: according to the consultations with the Base Affairs Office of the Ministry of Heritage, Culture, Tourism, and Handicrafts, studies on the Historical Forts in Semnan Province should be more specific. And archeologists should write a report about the condition to the Ministry.”

He continued: “Considering the richness of the province’s historical castles within the city of Damghan, the proposal of the General Administration is to set up a base within the city.”

Dost Mohammadi considered the establishment of this base to be effective in preserving. Protecting Historical Forts in Semnan province should be a top priority that needs a strong plan and support. That will help a lot in conducting studies about the castles of this province.

He also stressed the need to use the capacity of non-governmental organizations throughout the province to grow and develop tourism, promote handicrafts and attract public participation in the restoration of Historical Forts in Semnan.

Director-General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Semnan Province, emphasizing that people should participate in urban management, said: The creation of handicrafts hangouts and handicraft night markets plays a critical role in attracting tourists.

Dost Mohammadi called for the preservation of the historical sanctuaries of Historical Forts in Semnan and said: “Interaction with municipalities, rural districts, and related executive bodies has an important role in preserving and introducing historical attractions and monuments.”

There are more than 50 historical and ancient castles in Semnan province. He mentioned “Pachnar” in Semnan city, “Shir Qaleh” in Mahdishahr city, “Astonavand” castle in Garmsar city, “Padeh” castle in Aradan city, and “Jahanabad” castle in Sorkheh. Also, the Castles of Gerdkuh, Mansour Kooh, and Saro, with the antiquity of Parthia, have been among the important castles used in the Ismaili period.
