The director of the Gandishapur National Cultural Heritage and Tourism Center and Ivan Karkheh announced the continuation of their project for organizing, preserving, and restoring the Gundeshapur historical site.
Yaghoub Zalghi stated that a new phase of organizing, protection, and restoration measures is being carried out in Gundeshapur historical site.
“Protection measures on the excavation trench include protective thatch coating on walls and floors and protective restoration in parts of damaged walls and foundations, as well as reorganization. The archeologist who signed up for the project explored an environment around the trench.”

In this regard, the second chapter of organizing water structures has begun with the implementation of restoration measures on the siphon number two and the bridge around this structure, which includes reviewing and recognizing existing structures to better protection and restoration measures and restoration of the foundations of Poleband No. 2 from the west.
The director of the National Heritage, Cultural, and Tourism Base of Gundeshapur, and Ivan-Karkheh added: “Also, restoration works on the tunnel or water canal and breakwaters are being carried out by the original plan up to the intended part.”
He stated: Lining the base walls, flooring on the surface of the canals with the technique of traditional materials and materials (with mortar) are other measures being taken on these structures.
Zalqi referred to the beginning of the process of organizing the tomb of Yaqub Laith Saffari and cleaning and repairing the main facade (north side of the tomb) and said: “In this operation, clearing the damaged brick facade from environmental factors and repairing the wreaths is underway.”
He pointed out: This project has been put on the agenda with a credit of over 3 billion Rials from the national development credits.
Gundeshapur is the most famous university of Iran and a historical site in Khuzestan Province.
