Kolkata

Exploring a metropolitan city comes with its own set of challenges. The glaring one is traffic and more traffic rules. Many times, as tourists exploring a new city, we find ourselves in a fix because a) we aren’t familiar with the place to figure out the routes on our own, b) because of certain traffic rules, we get dropped off or are required to tackle an unfamiliar route to get picked up. This, oftentimes, leaves tourists in an uncomfortable situation.

To help eliminate this issue and to make Kolkata a tourist-friendly destination, the city is soon going to introduce exclusive ‘tourist pick-up and drop points’. This service will be made available across the city. Tour operators will soon be able to pick or drop off tourists with ease.

Under this new venture, there will be pre-specified pickup-drop points in different strategic locations across Kolkata. At these points, only commercially registered tourist vehicles operated by the Association of Tourism Service Providers of Bengal (ATSP) will be allowed to pick and drop tourists.

Also, registered tourist vehicles will be allowed to stop for 5-10 minutes at the respective tourist pick and drop points.

With this new development, the continuous movement of tourists through the city can be awaited in the coming days.
