We all are aware of why we need passports and why it’s a vital part of our travel. And as tedious as it is to get a passport, you should also be aware of what to do if your passport is lost or damaged.
If you’ve lost your passport, here is all that you need to know.
What to do when your passport is damaged or lost?
If you have lost your passport abroad, you should immediately report to the nearest police station and the passport office or the Indian mission.
Anyone can apply for a ‘re-issue’ of a passport.
Make sure you have all your documents in place, which will be required to submit with the application form.
How to apply for the passport again?
Duplicate passports are not issued. However, you will get a passport with a different passport number, which will have new validity.
Applicants should check out the ’re-issue’ section under the section of Lost/Damaged Passport.
First things first, file an FIR with a copy of your passports at the nearest police station.
If you miss the first step, make sure that you book an appointment with the nearest Regional Passport Office (RPO).
Make sure you have all the documents in place, including proof of address, Aadhar card, and birth certificate.
