Shirui Lily

The Shirui Lily Festival 2025 is a lively cultural and ecological celebration from May 20 to 24 in the Ukhrul district of Manipur, India. This year marks the 75th anniversary of discovering the rare Lilium mackliniae, commonly known as the Shirui Lily, which blooms exclusively on the Shirui Hills at elevations ranging from 1,730 to 2,500 meters. The flower is highly respected as a symbol of purity and identity among the Tangkhul Naga community and serves as the state emblem of Manipur.

The festival returns after a two-year hiatus due to ethnic unrest, now featuring increased security and renewed enthusiasm. Over 2,000 personnel have been deployed along the 80-kilometer route between Imphal and Ukhrul to ensure safety for all attendees.
