Thailand enhances safety measures to protect and support Chinese tourists

The Thai government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese tourists, introducing a series of targeted security and support measures, according to Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports Wanida Phansad.
Speaking at a joint meeting on ensuring Chinese tourists’ safety held in Bangkok, Wanida highlighted that Thailand now operates 79 tourist service centers nationwide, assisting Chinese-speaking visitors. Tourists in need of help can also contact the 1155 Tourist Police hotline or use the Thai Tourist Police mobile app to report emergencies.
Enhanced security and support systems
Wanida noted that multiple surveillance cameras have been installed at major tourist attractions, and the government is preparing to launch travel insurance plans for foreign tourists. These initiatives are part of Thailand’s broader strategy to maintain visitor confidence and enhance the country’s image as a safe and welcoming destination.
During the meeting, representatives from several Thai agencies, including the Tourist Police Bureau, the Immigration Bureau, and the Airport Authority, pledged to strengthen coordination in improving safety standards for Chinese visitors and ensuring a seamless travel experience.
Cooperation with China
Wu Jian, minister-counselor and consul general of the Chinese embassy in Thailand, welcomed the Thai government’s efforts and expressed hope that Thailand would further reinforce safety measures and introduce more targeted facilitation policies for Chinese tourists. He added that China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Thailand to encourage more Chinese nationals to visit the country.
Rising Chinese arrivals
According to data from Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, about 3.42 million Chinese tourists visited Thailand during the first nine months of this year, underlining the importance of the Chinese market to Thailand’s tourism recovery and long-term growth.
