Scheduled flights between Iran and the United Arab Emirates will resume this week, the spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran has announced.
On Saturday 28 June, Majid Akhavan said the decision was reached after negotiations between officials from the civil aviation authorities of Iran and the UAE, along with follow-up efforts through diplomatic channels.
He said the move is part of efforts to normalize scheduled air services with neighboring countries. Under the initial phase of the agreement, Iranian airlines, once introduced to the Emirati side, will resume flights to the UAE.
Akhavan added that in the next phase, Emirati airlines will also resume operations once the UAE introduces its approved carriers, paving the way for the restoration of normal bilateral cooperation and interactions in the field of air transport.
