The Iranian embassy in Russia said in a statement: “This embassy again strongly recommends to travelers intending to travel to Russia while ensuring the credibility and experience of their travel agency and the necessary documents for travel, the rules and regulations of entry into Russia in full to be informed and justified about the type of visa and the purpose of their trip.”

Following the previous announcement of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Moscow regarding the news published by ISNA news agency, quoted by the president of the association the union of passenger service offices has issued the following additional announcements regarding the suspension of several Iranian citizens at Moscow airports:

Due to the problem for Iranian citizens traveling to Russia to watch the European Cup football matches, ​​as soon as the Iranian Embassy learned of the problem, sent a representative to the airport and held extensive consultations with security and law enforcement officials to resolve the problem.

Some of the documents provided by 38 passengers were not approved by the Russian Border Police, and their statements were inconsistent with the purpose of their trip.

The Iranian Embassy continued that: some of these travelers were young children, the elderly, and the sick, whose trip to Russia was not justified by the Russian border police with ID, and they also stated in their statements purposes other than watching Football matches were as spending honeymoon or visiting some relatives. The mentioned purposes were against the laws and regulations of Russia. These travelers should have been informed before they traveled.

The Iranian Embassy said that travel agencies that have a history of tourism with Russia are required to inform and comply with the rules and regulations, and should consider themselves obliged to comply with these rules and regulations and at the same time inform their passengers of these rules.
