Qajar Newspapers in Reza Abbasi Museum

Selected publications of the Qajar Newspapers are ready for the public in the virtual exhibition of the Reza Abbasi Museum.

According to ISNA, the scope of activity of some museums has been extended to cyberspace. “Reza Abbasi” is one of the museums that has used this space well to introduce their works during the long corona holidays.

This time, a virtual exhibition of selected Qajar Newspapers from the Qajar period, which was in the specialized library of this museum for a long time, is available for the users.

These Qajar Newspapers belong to the historical period of 1267 to 1336 AH. Al-Matin, Etefaqiyeh events, Wisdom, Red Shafaq, Shargh, Parvaneh, Peyk, Naseri, Sharafat, Tarbiat, Soraya, Summary of events, Kamal, Adab, Venus, Nowruz, Sun Iran, Military Iran, Patriots, Today’s Man, Evangelism, Education, Voice of the Fatherland, Parliament, Mesbah, Communication, North Breeze, Isfahan Association, Trials, Equality, Association, Sobh-e Sadegh, Shekar, Theater, Ancient Iran, Mollansereddin, Kashkol, Yadegar-e Enqelab, Soroush, Nobahar, Jarchi Mellat, Surasrafil, Loti, Raad, Tawfiq, Sobh Vesal, Asr-e Jadid, Iran Star, Free Language, Bamdad-e Roshan, Golshan and Gol Gol Zard.

The history of Qajar Newspapers of that period states that “The social history of Iran in the third year of the reign of Mohammad Shah Qajar (1264-1250 AH), witnessed the establishment and publication of the first Persian language newspaper in Iran, namely” Newspaper “under the management and editorship of Mirza Saleh Shirazi. Two centuries after the first newspaper was published in London, monthly.

The reign of Nasser al-Din Shah (1313-1264 AH) witnessed new pages in the history of domestic and foreign relations of Iran, including the establishment of the newspaper “Vaqaye Etefaqiyeh” by Amir Kabir in 1267 AH and the formation of the Ministry of Printing in 1288 AH to control print materials.

 In these Qajar Newspapers, in addition to domestic and foreign news, very exquisite and sublime images of the rulers and men of that period were published. That was unique and made the events of the incident the first Persian illustrated newspaper at that time.
