Anjireh Caravanserai on the Way to UWHS

Caravanserais are a lost link in Iranian architecture that has been built mostly for commercial use in the past. Anjireh Caravanserai has had unique growth and prosperity due to the commercial and commercial position of Yazd.

Anjireh Caravanserai is a building with an irregular octagonal plan, which they made out of stone. And in some parts, including the entrance porch, out of brick. The design of the caravanserai was different from other caravanserais.

Those who built it had a different way of doing it, and the interior was totally different. The caravanserai stables, located on both sides, each have two entrances. One of the entrances leads to the courtyard of the Anjireh Caravanserai and the other to the entrance porch. In all rooms, there are two lobes in the shape of a ledge and old fireplaces.

Anjoreh Caravanserai was severely damaged and is on the verge of destruction due to its distance from the main road. A small percentage of the ceilings are left at the entrance. This building is located in the Anjireh desert, next to the old way of Yazd Saghand and Tabas, approximately 500 meters from the Anjireh Caravanserai.

They have proposed several caravanserais in Yazd province have to UNESCO for the world registration of Yazd. This stone in caravanserai is one of these buildings. Although Anjireh caravanserai is going to get its glory back during the patriarchal period, its history is older, and the theme of the caravanserai is related to the previous period.

In the year 380 AH, in the fourth century, in the book Masalak al-Mamalak, Istakhri mentions the rising water and the pools that are there for the caravans and refers to the departure of the caravanserai which he built.

Anjireh Caravanserai belongs to the Ilkhanid-Ilkhanid period and is in Ardakan city, near the old way to Yazd, Saghand, and Tabas. This work was registered as one of the national monuments of Iran on October 10, 1999, with the registration number 2449.
