Exciting news! Disney has just announced its groundbreaking venture: the first-ever theme park in the Middle East, set to open in the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi. Get ready for a magical experience that promises to bring beloved characters and enchanting adventures to life in a brand new way. This is an exhilarating milestone for Disney fans in the region and marks a significant expansion of the entertainment giant’s global presence.

This ambitious project is a collaboration between Disney and Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations. It is expected to open in the early 2030s. The theme park will be constructed indoors to ensure a comfortable experience despite the region’s extreme summer heat. This climate-controlled environment will feature immersive attractions, themed lands, and beloved Disney characters, all designed to respect and reflect regional cultural sensitivities.

The park will be added to a remarkable collection of attractions on Yas Island, which already includes Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Early reports indicate that Disney Park will combine the company’s iconic storytelling and characters with architectural designs inspired by Emirati heritage.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Miral, expressed his excitement about the project, stating that it will “redefine family entertainment in the region.” Meanwhile, Disney executives highlighted the strategic importance of the UAE as a hub for tourism and culture.

In addition to the theme park, Disney has recently opened its first standalone retail stores in the UAE, located in Dubai Mall and Yas Mall. Furthermore, a new stage musical titled “Disney: The Magic Box” is set to debut in early 2025 at Etihad Arena, featuring more than 75 iconic Disney songs.

The Abu Dhabi venture illustrates Disney’s ongoing efforts to expand internationally, especially in markets with increasing demand for family-oriented tourism and entertainment.
