Passengers Traveling Abroad from the UK Now Need a New Form to Show Their Trip Is Approved

Heads up because there is a travel declaration form!

Travellers travelling abroad from the United Kingdom now have to fill out a new form before entering a flight. This form is to prove that their trip is allowed under the country’s stay-at-home boundaries.

They must download the travel declaration form online and sign it before their flight. They have to have the paper on them or an electronic copy of it with them. The airline will check the forms at the check-in counter or before boarding and have the power to turn those travellers away who don’t have the proper paperwork.

In this form, passengers have to write down the reason for their trip and it must be legally permitted like work, education, medical, weddings, or funerals. It is worth mentioning that those who get caught without the form could face a £200 fine.

The Police has been stepping up its presence at ports and airports recently. The government wrote an announcement of the new policy backing the police up. Officers will be conducting spot checks and have the authority to ask travellers to produce a completed form.

This is not a oneway restriction policy. That flying into the UK from abroad also need to either get tested before arrival and quarantine for several days before getting tested twice again or quarantine in a hotel. But the latter depends on where they are coming from. Should those who are subject to a hotel quarantine violate the rules they are very much likely to face up to 10 years in prison and a fine.

It may be a while before the UK opens its borders for tourism again, but the country is pushing for an internationally-recognized vaccine passport to be developed to help.
