Qeshm Geopark Continues to Prosper

The head of the Geological Survey announced: “After Qeshm Geopark, Iran’s second geopark case known as Tabas will be on UNESCO agenda for registration in the International Commission Geoparks.”

According to ISNA, the geological documentary of the Earth’s surface entitled Qeshm Geopark, the Island of Phenomena promotes the treasures and phenomena of Iran’s tourism. This geopark introduces the country’s geological attractions and achieving sustainable employment by using new technologies to create the necessary infrastructure in this area. Because this formation has a very wide outcrop and it can be said that 90% of the outcrop of Qeshm Island is Aghajari Formation.

Shahidi stated that due to the nature of the constituent material of its elements under the influence of wind erosion, very beautiful shapes have been created. As can be seen in the documentary, very beautiful cross-stratifications are observed in this formation, and many parts up to several Ten meters you can see the accumulation of shells, which is very beautiful.
