Tourist Villages Benefit Their People

The Deputy Minister of Tourism said: “Economic revenues from Tourist villages are good among rural communities, and the rate of job creation in these areas has increased significantly.”

According to ISNA, the meeting of rural economic development with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade was to explain the measures and examine the needs of Tourist villages in rural areas.

In previous years, 500 villages fit the position as target villages. Some of them had changed due to political and geographical changes. By creating a competitive environment between the tourist villages, these sites have now tried to better themselves. This project was reviewed to rank these sites and determine the standards and indicators required by the country villages. The study phase has been completed and is currently in the final stages of implementation.

One of the achievements of this field is the issuance of exploitation licenses for about 2300 units of eco-lodges in tourist villages, which created employment for about 8000 people. That happened while eco-lodges have been introduced as official and well-known places of residence in the country and have been welcomed by a wide range of tour operators.

Holding training courses for the empowerment of local communities in rural and nomadic areas to acquaint them with the concepts, benefits, and services of tourism is also one of the steps taken in this field. Advertising and introducing tourist attractions in rural and nomadic areas and Credit for holding festivals and tourism events in these sites, and compiling instructions for issuing agricultural tourism are some options for tourist villages.

They try to give licenses to increase the income of rural households and their enjoyment of tourism benefits as additional income, convening and holding meetings of the National Committee for Rural and Nomadic Tourism. Other bodies will work to coordinate and guide tourism programs in these regions, to form professional ecotourism resorts in Iran.
