Shams Palace of Karaj On the Way of Renovation

The head of the Sima, Manzar, and Urban Green Space Organization of Karaj Municipality said: If the appropriate credit is provided, the reconstruction of the Shams Palace (AKA Pearl Palace) will be done in less than two years.

In an interview with ISNA, Peyman Bezatipour, noting that the main building of the Shams Palace will be handed over to the municipality soon, said: “According to the plan, the municipality is going to allocate a suitable credit for the reconstruction of the Pearl Palace building.”

He continued: if the required credit is provided, the reconstruction of the palace building will be done in less than two years under the supervision of cultural heritage experts and in compliance with technical and architectural principles.

The Director-General of Alborz Cultural Heritage said: to revive the Shams Palace, at least 130 billion tomans of credit is needed, which cannot be provided even by the private sector.

In an interview with ISNA, Fereydoun Mohammadi pointed out that there is a possibility of handing over the restoration of the Shams Palace building to the Karaj Municipality.

He explained: “The fact is that the restoration of the Shams Palace building in the current situation requires a lot of credit, which the cultural heritage cannot provide at the moment.”

The Director-General of Alborz Cultural Heritage added: “We are looking to revive the building of this palace at any cost so that it can be visited by the public and return to the tourism cycle of the province.”

Mohammadi added: to revive this palace, at least 130 billion tomans of credit is needed, which can not be provided even by the private sector.

He explained: “By reviving this building, the private sector is looking for a return on investment that it has spent, and this return will take a long time, but the return of capital for the municipality, considering that it can use other spaces in this complex, seems more logical.”
