Vennersys

Vennersys, an industry-leading provider of online ticketing and integrated point of sale solutions for over 25 years, has clarified how using a cloud-based ticketing solution can help save the environment.

Regarding the climate crisis, Megan Thompson, Business Development Manager at Vennersys, comments “Visitor attractions are no exception. The type of attraction you operate will affect how much you are fueling the climate crisis, but there are steps that every attraction can take to reduce its impact. For one, you could move your business infrastructure to the cloud.”

She believes that switching to a cloud-based system, an attraction could reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions by nearly 80% when compared to on-premises servers. These systems help attractions to cut down on the amount of paper they use, for instance, printed admission tickets, leaflets, brochures, maps, vouchers, and more. Instead, visitor attractions can provide these directly to the visitor’s mobile device, which can be more convenient for the guest, and decreases paper waste.

Cloud-based solutions require less energy to run as cooling and maintenance are more efficient. With the current movement toward renewable energy in the cloud services industry, we will start to see more providers running their systems exclusively off renewable energy in the next few years.
