Ramadan Is Not an Encumbrance for Tourism in Turkey

At the beginning of Ramadan, five-star hotels in Turkey have reduced the price of accommodation and added the special promise of Iftar and Sahar to attract more tourists.

In Ramadan, Turkey’s strategy for attracting tourists, especially after Corona was mostly based on increasing trust and reducing costs.

With the arrival of Ramadan and despite corona restrictions for the citizens of Turkey country, five-star hotels have designed special accommodation packages to attract tourists during this period.

For instance, they have reduced the prices for two nights of accommodation with two meals of Sahar and Iftar from seven thousand to 116 thousand Liras. Before Ramadan, the price of accommodation in some five-star hotels, on normal days, varies between € 370 and € 6,000 for one night, excluding taxes.

Five-star hotels in Turkey started operating before Ramadan, especially since no restaurant can hold Iftar meals according to the decision of the Corona headquarters in the country.

Therefore, the hotels offer accommodation packages for travellers who are visiting during Ramadan.

These hotels are valuable palaces and historic buildings, in order to attract more travellers and so, for their Ramadan accommodation package, they have included the delicious local Turkish food for Sahar and Iftar.

Turkey had more than 36 million tourists in 2019, but with the outbreak of the Coronavirus and the cancellation of its flights, the number of tourists decreased by about 70% to 16 million.

According to the country’s Statistics Institute, Turkey’s tourism industry revenue fell by more than 65% in 2020 to $ 12.6 billion. This Ramadan special strategy was aimed at repatriating tourists, strengthening safety systems and controlling the environments for tourist benefit.

The government excluded foreign tourists despite quarantine conditions and traffic restrictions for citizens. Tourism industry officials hope the number of Turkish tourists will reach 20 million by 2021 as vaccinations accelerate in most countries and see Ramadan as a great opportunity to take advantage.
