Tour Guide Training Course Will Be Revised

The Director-General of the Office of Tourism Studies, Education and Planning announced the revision of the training courses for a tour guide.

According to ISNA, citing the public relations of the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Ministry of Heritage, Culture, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Zahed Shafiei said: It needed to be reconsidered.

He added: to update the educational courses and with the benefit of the expert opinions of the relevant professors and the participation of professional organizations, it was decided to organize this course in two groups of Tour Guide, cultural and natural.

Shafiei said: “Based on the reviews, about 500 hours of special training courses for cultural guides and about 600 hours of special training courses for nature guides have been designed and are ready to be announced by the Minister of Heritage, Culture, Tourism, and Handicrafts. This is the section.

According to the Director-General of the Office of Tourism Studies, Education and Planning, according to the new definitions, which are following the law on the training of tour guides, one training course focusing on natural activities and another course focusing on cultural activities in both domestic and international.

Emphasizing the importance of the role of tour guides concerning domestic and foreign tourists, Shafiei said: “Guides can influence the quality of tourists’ travel and their attitudes about tourism destinations, so they have an important place in the tourism industry chain.”

According to ISNA, after a decade of follow-up, the Islamic Consultative Assembly finally voted in favor of tour guide insurance in late 2019. According to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, the number of tourist guides has exceeded 14,000.
